Manchester-based Jam Creative won a prestigious Drum design award on 23rd April for their work on Hydes Brewery’s recent opening The Abel Heywood in Manchester’s NQ. The site was opened in December 2014 with Hydes taking a derelict building, investing over £1 million and turning the business into one of the best pubs and boutique hotels in the NQ.
The acquisition was part of Hydes’ strategy of focusing their efforts on high-quality, managed houses. The Abel Heywood demonstrated Hydes’ commitment to bringing great pubs back into the market and with its quirky positioning (paying tribute to the Manchester legend Abel Heywood) has brought great strength to the Northern Quarter.
This strategy has paid great dividends with company turnover increasing by 9.4% to £18.5m in the FY13-14. The FY14-15 results are expected to be released in July.
